What We Do

Our Programs

Sustainable programs designed for lasting impact, built on community partnerships and evidence-based practices.

Current Programs

Active initiatives making a difference in the communities we serve.

Community Health Education

Participatory health education classes designed to empower women with essential healthcare knowledge.

Our six-month programs are taught by both local Guatemalan educators and foreign healthcare providers. We focus on practical, life-saving skills that participants can use immediately and share with their families.

Topics Covered:

  • Hygiene and sanitation practices
  • Nutrition and healthy cooking
  • Wound care and first aid
  • Women's health and family planning

Clean Water Access

Partnering with Ecofiltros to provide affordable water filtration and training.

The villages we work in do not have access to clean, potable water—water is often contaminated by sewage. We distribute water filters at an affordable, subsidized price and provide comprehensive training on use and maintenance.

For many participants, this is their first exposure to water filtration technology. Our training ensures that filters are used correctly and maintained properly to provide years of clean water for families.

Medical Jornadas

Mobile medical clinics bringing healthcare directly to remote communities.

Our medical jornadas (mobile clinics) serve multiple communities in the Chicacao region. Each clinic is staffed by both local Guatemalan medical providers and healthcare professionals from the United States.

These clinics provide essential medical care, health screenings, and medications to community members who would otherwise have to travel hours to access healthcare.

Midwife Training

Strengthening midwife education using evidence-based curriculum.

We partner with local ministries of health to improve midwife skills using Laerdal's Helping Babies Survive curriculum. This internationally recognized program teaches essential newborn resuscitation techniques.

By training local midwives, we help reduce maternal and infant mortality in communities where hospital births are not always accessible or preferred.

Community Health Workers

Training local community members to serve as health advocates and first responders within their villages.

Clinic Partnerships

Strengthening partnerships with existing local clinics to improve sustainable healthcare access and infrastructure.

Artisan Skills Training

Teaching community members artisan skills to provide additional income opportunities for their families.

Smokeless Stoves

Partnering with Asociacion Tuik Ruchlew to provide smokeless stoves that improve pulmonary health.
